For these awards, I graciously thank Biltrix and praying for one day. I am honored. Many other bloggers are also deserving of these awards.
The Rules:
1. Use the award logo in the post.
2. Link to whoever nominated you.
3. Write 10 pieces of information about yourself.
4. Nominate fellow bloggers who meet the indicated criteria.
5. Leave a comment on the nominees’ blogs to tell them of the award.
My ten statements:
1. I am an avid cook and bicyclist, each of which sustains the other.
2. I prefer to ride my bicycle up a mountain, rather than down a mountain.
3. Professionally, I am a geek. My thesis was on excited states of low-spin d6 metals complexes, if this makes sense to you, shot me an e-mail.
4. One of the few remaining persons who can use all twenty-one scales on a slide rule.
5. I do not understand fitted bed sheets, they never fit the mattress, they cannot be neatly folded, and they are impossible to dry without wadding up.
6. The number of states I have lived in is greater than the number I have never been to.
7. I have never been to Alaska, Montana, Idaho, and North and South Dakota.
8. I prefer black and white photographs and movies to color photographs and movies.
9. I wish I had more time for blogging.
10. Thank you reading my blog, Christmas Blessings and Happy New Year.

Congratulations and blessings. I see that you are an engineer. I think slide rule is better than calculator. Is that equation strength of material?
Thank you, I am a physical scientist (sort of a combination of physics and chemistry). I miss using a slide rule, it keeps the mind sharper than a calculator and in some ways a slide rule is more powerful and quicker than a calculator. The excited states of low-spin d6 metal complexes deals with the movement of electrons in metal-containing materials, low-spin and d6 refers particular arrangement of the electrons in the metal.
I always associate slide rule with Engineers. And my guess is far from your explanation. Thank you.
you have included me among a wonderful cloud of witnessess- thank-you
Enjoy. My pleasure. Like the turn of phrase “cloud of witnesses”.
🙂
Thank you, Michael. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too. I have no idea what you said in #3 (although I vaguely remember playing with my older brother’s slide rule – #4) and I identify with #9.
You are welcomed. A funny aside to #3, two of us in the junior Legion of Mary in our parish (at the same time) ended up writing their thesis (at different universities) on essentially this same topic — one became a Nun the other not (I am the not).
So glad I found your blog, Michael. I look forward to reading more of your thoughtful and insightful posts throughout the coming year. God bless!
Thank you Saintly Sages.
Thanks, Michael for giving the Sunshine award to Dan Frugalberg (http://danfrugalberg.com/). What a surprise Christmas present! God bless 🙂
I forgot to add, always good to make contact with another legionary, past or present. I was one for a few years, in high school and some years after. Fond memories 🙂
You are welcome. I miss the Legion of Mary, it was a wonderful experience.
You still doing contact work though 😉
Michael, thank you very much for the award. I am honored.
Peace,
W. Ockham
You are welcome. Peace and Grace, Michael
Thank you so much for including my fledgling blog on your honors list — I’m both surprised and delighted to be in such exalted company. How encouraging to think that it is living up to its name, and reflecting the light of faith that “shines everywhere” like the sun!
My pleasure — Christmas blessings and Happy New Year.
Many thanks for the award, which is greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and a happy New Year!
Christmas Blessings and Happy New Year! I enjoy your postings on the Church Fathers.
